The Applied Spot & Stain Removal Masterclass, instructed by Duncan Bennett, is a one day stand alone course covering advanced spotting skills. It is a visual and hands on workshop that applies the skills covered in the IICRC Carpet Cleaning Technician course and shows you how to get complete pre-loss results from your spot cleaning products where possible.

Course Learning Objectives

  1. Become confident in successfully identifying staining materials and removing difficult stains that other carpet cleaners walk away from.

  2. Better understand stain removal by observing the essential chemical interactions of soil and water that make cleaning possible.

  3. Learn what practices to avoid so as not to create problems as a result of inappropriate cleaning techniques.

  4. Understand how to use Acids, alkalis, oxidizers and reducers to remove difficult stains.

  5. Know how to use accelerators and heat to boost stain removal performance

  6. Learn to identify stains by “type” and know how to remove a range of common stain types including, red wine, marker pen, mineral grease, blood, tea and coffee

  7. Learn spot and stain removal procedures that will minimise the stress on the fibre and minimise chemical residues and resoiling issues

  8. To be able to identify the type of staining material and decide which chemistry and procedure is going to be most effective.

  9. To avoid customer dissatisfaction by learning which stains may be permanent and to prequalify the expected outcome

  10. To be able to select a comprehensive cleaning chemical load list and know how to use each of these products.
